Allen Colvin has been kind of a jack-of-all-trades fix-it man for over 20 years now, by necessity on our farm, but recently just knuckled down and got licensed and bonded as a general contractor so that he can do what he does for other people, working for himself.
--Educated in a two year program in cabinetry at Bates Technical College, Washington.
He also has a couple of years working in Seattle area doing demolition construction for CLP.
The man makes absolutely gorgeous, perfect and seamless artisan furniture, and rustic pieces as well.
Past projects include tiny house building for charity, complete remodel of a mobile home including framing, metal roofing, additional blocking underneath, wood stove installation, insulation, minor wiring and plumbing under supervision by a certified person, flooring, sheetrock, and alternative building methods to include cob walls and using salvaged wood materials. He has worked in a lumber salvage company, cabinet shop, and outside commercial construction, as well as extensive residential remodel, built livestock fences, done some tractor work such as digging ditches, pull out stumps with our backhoe, and build access roads on the farm. He has built rudimentary stalls for livestock as well using salvaged and purchased materials.
